Skin Needling is one of the most effective dermal therapies for optimising skin regeneration. It’s a minimally invasive treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body.

Skin Needling uses micro needles on a medical grade pen that is moved over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced punctures on the skin.

These micro-punctures go through the skin with minimal damage to the upper epidermal layer, but creates a microscopic, generally painless injury to the deeper dermal layer. The minor injury and bleeding triggers a “wound-healing” response in the skin. This results in increased collagen and elastin production.

1. It’s only effective on wrinkles

False! Skin needling is so versatile and can be useful for a range of skin conditions and complaints. In addition to minimising wrinkles and fine lines, skin needling can also improve skin tone and texture, pigmentation, facial and body scarring such as acne scarring, surgical scarring and stretch marks. It can also tighten and rejuvenate skin for a healthy and plump glow and increases skins elasticity and firmness.

2. DIY Microneedling is as good as professional microneedling (all rollers can trigger collagen production)

DIY Microneedling will definitely not be as effective as professional in-treatment skin needling. For one, at home devices/rollers are not in line wth professional standards, professional microneedling devices deliver more micro channels at the right depth. You’ll find the depth is not adjustable on at home devices and they also don’t have the same number of channels available. As a reference point, professional microneedling can penetrate up to 6 times deeper into the skin! At home devices and even poorer quality professional devices needles tend to be knife shaped, whereas with a quality professional device like E-dermastamp, the needles are a tapered cone shape, this ensures no slicing through tissue and risk causing traumatic skin, vessel and nerve damage. Poor quality needles also require increased pressure making for more painful treatment. With E-dermastamp treatment is not painful at all.

3. It leaves holes in the skin

We get it, the title can be a little scary and misleading but its not the kind of needle you think of when you hear that word. If your thinking about blood test needles or cannula needles, think again. The needles used in this treatment are so tiny you can barely see them, it creates the smallest of injuries on your skin in order to produce collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin. These little micro-wounds seal within minutes of treatment.

4. It’s a painful procedure

Although it has a scary name, you have absolutely no reason to worry! The feeling is somewhat of a scratchy sensation and your skin will probably feel slightly tight and warm for a few hours after but thats by far the worst part, plus the actually needling part of the treatment is over within minutes. You will most likely experience a ‘mild sunburn’ feeling.

5. It makes you bleed lots

The answer to this depends on what we are treating, however you will NOT bleed excessively, a misconception within itself is that you have to go ultra deep within the skin layers and cause bleeding in order to see a result, this is completely false! Majority of the time we are after a light pin-prick bleed, however other times we are after a simple erythema which is making the skin a nice and flush pink.

6. Results don’t last long

Untrue! Once your skin produces collagen, this creates an effect that can last years. Collagen naturally regenerates below the surface in the deeper layers of the skin, generating new skin cells and enhancing blood supply, results may be seen after only 1 session, however anywhere between 5-12 sessions are recommended to see the most noticeable and long lasting results. Factors such as age, skin type and concern can vary these session times from person to person.

At Contouring Bodies, we only use the best so WHY CHOOSE E-DERMASTAMP ?

The eDermaStamp® is ISO13485 certified (certified medical device), meeting all standards for medical-grade equipment in manufacturing, materials, sterile packaging and more.

The medical-grade micro-needles of the eDermaStamp® are atraumatic (non-traumatic) cone-shaped needles that displace the skin during the puncture process, creating a micro-wound that seals within minutes of treatment. Poorer quality roller devices are made with knife-shaped needles that slice through tissue and risk causing traumatic skin, vessel and nerve damage. Poor quality needles also require increased pressure, making for a more painful treatment.

At 150 strokes per second (the fastest on the market!) the eDermaStamp® can safely glide over the skin without scratching or tearing the skin. Poor quality micro-needling pens which operate at a slower insertion rate (100 to 120 strokes per second) can cause scratches and micro-tears in the tissue as the tip moves across the face. The result can be increased epidermal damage and increased risk of infection.

Where other scar and anti-aging treatments are ablative (destroying tissue), the eDermaStamp® respects the integrity of the epidermis and dermis, using atraumatic (non-traumatic) perforations to gently trigger the generation of new tissue.

Don’t be mislead by imitation devices that boast “the most needles”. Though we want to maximise the number of perforations, too many needles compromises the safety and comfort of the treatment. Imagine a bed of nails: while a bed of nails can easily support your body weight without a nail perforating your skin, a single nail would easily penetrate your skin under the same pressure. Similarly, a device with too many needles will require dangerous and uncomfortable amounts of pressure in order to penetrate the skin to the appropriate depth. The eDermaStamp® employs the optimal number of needles to maximise effectiveness, safety and comfort.
